Important Information

As of 6th March, 2020

Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) continues to monitor and heed the ongoing advice and guidance issued by the Australian Government regarding COVID-19.

Ensuring the ease of accessible information on the latest health information to our members is MEA’s highest priority.

Under the recommendation of Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy, business should continue as usual, “At the moment, there is no reason to put a mask on when you are walking around the shops, there is no reason to stop going to football matches or community activities, there is no reason to dilute the shelves of lavatory paper in the supermarkets. We should continue a normal activity, we should watch the development of this and, we will focus on any outbreaks and control”. [1]

With this advice in mind, MEA will continue with its planning of Evolve 2020.

The COVID-19 situation is constantly changing, and MEA acknowledges that the most recent health advice from the Government should be followed. Measures to combat the potential spread will be taken including the dissemination of health advice from the authorities prior and during events, and the availability of sanitisation and disinfectant products which attendees are highly encouraged to use.

MEA encourages its community of event professionals to follow the recommendations of the authorities and health professionals to assist in reducing the exposure and transmission of COVID-19 to others.

Should you feel unwell, or show symptoms relating to COVID-19, seek immediate medical assistance and reconsider your attendance at any event. If you have:

  • left, or transited through mainland China in the last 14 days (please isolate yourself for 14 days from leaving mainland China)
  • left, or transited through Iran on or after 1 March (please isolate yourself until 14 days after leaving Iran)
  • been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus in the last 14 days (please isolate yourself for 14 days after the date of last contact with the confirmed case).
